Description
Ceftriaxone Sodium 250 mg + Sulbactam Sodium 125 mg SWFI – Ceftriaxone Sodium + Sulbactam Sodium injection is used in the clinical treatment of Sepsis (redness and swelling on the lining of the belly). Sepsis happens when the body’s immune system reacts to an infection by releasing inflammatory chemicals into the bloodstream. This can cause changes that damage multiple organs, leading them to fail, sometimes even resulting in death. Symptoms of sepsis include fever, difficulty breathing, low blood pressure, fast heart rate, mental confusion, and decreased urine output. Meningitis, (Meningitis is usually caused by a bacterial infection but can also be viral or fungal).
Ceftriaxone can prevent meningitis as it prevents to multiply the bacteria further. Symptoms of meningitis are headache, nausea, confusion, fever, and stiff neck. Ranceft-S 375 injection treats Abdominal Infections, Peritonitis, and infection of the biliary tract. Ceftriaxone Sodium 250 mg + Sulbactam Sodium 125 mg is an antibiotic combination that assists in the treatment of infections of the Bones, Joints, Soft tissue, Skin, wounds, UTI, Respiratory tract Infections, Pneumonia, and Ear, Nose and Throat Infections, and uncomplicated gonorrhea. Ranceft-S 375 Injection may also be used for perioperative prophylaxis of Infections. A single dose given Preoperatively may reduce the chances of Postoperative Infection.
Uses of Ceftriaxone Sodium 250 mg + Sulbactam Sodium 125 mg SWFI
- Ranceft-S 375 injection is injected into a muscle or a vein typically once or twice a day.
- you should drink plenty of fluids while taking this medication.
- Check the medication bottle visually to see if there are any particles or discolorations. If there are, discard the liquid.
- CEFTRIAXONE+SULBACTAM is probably safe when used in children, pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and elderly people.
- It may not interact with alcohol.
- To avoid an upset stomach Ranceft-S should be taken with food and plenty of fluids
- Since Fiber-rich foods can be digested easily by gut bacteria, helps to promote their growth. Consuming more fiber-rich foods can help to restore the healthy gut bacteria post-antibiotics.
- Including whole grains in the diet, such as whole-grain bread and brown rice will be beneficial.
Contradictions and Precautions
- Patients with known allergy to the Cephalosporin group of antibiotics Ceftriaxone & Sulbactam for Injection is contraindicated. Hypersensitivity to penicillin may predispose the patient to the possibility of allergic cross-reactions
- Serious caution needs to be taken in penicillin-sensitive patients.
- Allergic reactions are the reason for ceftriaxone and sulbactam for injection therapy to be discontinued.
- This drug should be used during pregnancy only if needed. As ceftriaxone is secreted in breast milk, albeit at low concentrations, caution should be exercised in nursing mothers.
Side Effects
The following side effects are reported to occur, if you feel any of these or other than these side effects, it is suggested to discuss the symptoms with your doctor.
- Gastrointestinal: diarrhea, nausea & vomiting, stomatitis, and glossitis.
- Bleeding
- Skin reactions
- Allergic dermatitis
- Headache
- Dizziness
- Increase in serum creatinine
- Mycosis of the genital tract
- Fever, and shivering have been observed
- Pain, induration, and tenderness
- Inflammatory reactions in the vein wall may also may be minimized by slow injection, given over 2 to 5 minutes
